DISEASEMODELING

Advancing disease modeling to better reproduce the complexity of human biology

Many drug candidates fail when they reach clinical trials, due to a number of factors, including the lack of human-relevant models and species differences between animals and humans. Meanwhile, current in vitro models are unable to fully reproduce the complexity of human biology. The development of more reliable and tunable human disease models is needed to bridge the gap between preclinical and clinical studies, with the goal to improve the understanding of disease pathophysiology and accelerate new therapeutic targets identification.

CANCER MODELS

The Challenge: Current models often fail to recapitulate the complexity of tumor microenvironment and may not accurately reflect the cancer cells behaviour.

Our solution: Our models realistically mimic the tumor niche, with its physio-pathological phenotype, for improved and more predictive assessments and drug testing

Readouts: Live imaging, immunofluorescence, viability assessment, molecular analysis, histological analysis, cytokine release profiling, cell recovery and phenotype profiling.

Infectious

INFECTIOUS DISEASE

The Challenge: COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the challenges in predicting human response to infectious diseases. In addition, most of them are human-specific and can mutate rapidly, making it difficult to predict the course of the disease and the effectiveness of vaccines and treatments.

Our solution: The 3D organ-on-chip dynamic system provides a more physiologically relevant alternative to study the pathophysiology of infectious diseases and to test vaccines and therapeutics.

Readouts: Live imaging, immunofluorescence, viability assessment, molecular analysis, histological analysis, cytokine release profiling, cell recovery and phenotype profiling.

Inflammation

INFLAMMATION

The challenge: Inflammation plays a critical role in many diseases. While current methods have advanced our understanding of inflammation, they may not fully recreate the complexity of human immune response.

Our solution: Our dynamic model can be used to study the interactions between immune cells and other cell types in the context of inflammation and disease, providing a human-relevant in vitro model.

Readouts: Molecular analysis, cytokine release profiling, cell recovery and phenotype profiling.

ImmunoOncology

IMMUNO-ONCOLOGY

The challenge: : Immunotherapies are based on boosting the host’s immune system toward the elimination of cancer. Conventional cell culture models do not properly mimic the tumor microenvironment, leading to low predictability, reliability, and immune compatibility.

Our solution: Our immune-tumor organ-on-chip-based model allows to recapitulate the human pathology and to efficiently test new the immunotherapies, also in a
personalized perspective.

Readouts: Live imaging, immunofluorescence, viability assessment, molecular analysis, cytokine release profiling, cell recovery and phenotype profiling.
